SINGAPORE (IndoTelko) – Dialogic Inc announced the availability of its new PowerMedia XMS 2.1. Nearly 30 customers and partners have implemented a beta version of PowerMedia XMS 2.1’s software media server and worked with Dialogic toward creating real-world applications and services.
From Tier 1 carriers to innovative development shops, Dialogic customers are leading the charge in shaping XMS 2.1 to monetize applications and deliver seamless multimedia experiences for end users.
Dialogic’s PowerMedia XMS 2.1 empowers service providers to move away from the central office and closer to the data center, allowing developers and carriers an opportunity to more rapidly create and deploy telephony, conferencing and other value-added services (VAS).
By offering standards-based media control interfaces and management capabilities on an award-winning platform, PowerMedia XMS 2.1 enables carriers and developers to move beyond the initial peer-to-peer benefits of WebRTC to realize the sea change of communications opportunities present in the market.
“We’re preparing to use PowerMedia XMS 2.1 for deploying WebRTC videoconference solutions with advanced features such as playing videos over WebRTC and recording WebRTC video sessions,” said Anton Roman, chief technology officer of Quobis. “We plan to interconnect our WebRTC client to the PowerMedia XMS 2.1, to increase the number of WebRTC-based services we will be able to offer to our customers.”
Fraunhofer FOKUS, an international research and development institute based in Germany, is working with Dialogic to determine how PowerMedia XMS 2.1 can further the conference systems of tomorrow.
Niklas Blum, Dr.-Ing., of Fraunhofer FOKUS said, “The software-based features of PowerMedia XMS 2.1 will let us break from the confines of traditional video conferencing to easily add call features and prototype new service platforms for service operators and services for end users. Our collaboration will enable carriers the opportunity to move the entire industry forward by focusing on what communicating looks like today and tomorrow.”
CallTech, an early adopter of WebRTC services, is looking to Dialogic’s PowerMedia XMS 2.1 to offer advanced conferencing services to customers.(es)
