JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) admitted they are still having an open negotiations with Netflix to become a part of the IndiHome's Triple Play services.
"There is no problem for any negotiations. It's just a business, once rival then can become friends and vice versa. As long as its a win-win solution," said Telkom's consumer Director Dian Rachmawan, lately.
Dian emphasized that until now Netflix is still blocked in the Telkom Group network because they do not meet the regulations and provide business advantages for Telkom.
"A netflix representative has come a moment after Telkom blocked their service. But the negotiations off the beaten path. They did not introduce themselves before entering the market. Suddenly they announced an international expansion, they neglected us," said Dian which is known as the Commander of IndiHome among internal Telkom.
According to him, Netflix will not enter Indonesia as part of the expansion if IndiHome not reached one million subscribers in 2015. "Thanks to IndiHome, Indonesia ranked number 6 according to Akamai. Netflix will not enter the market with high speed internet. Now they want to work on IndiHome customer, they came rushing in without manner, Was it a polite gesture?" he said.
Dian also said that, Netflix will face some problems if they do not cooperate with players like Telkom.
"In case of a complaint filed, where the costumers should address it to? Obama? They must introduce themselves from the beginning to Telkom. They are the Over the Top (OTT). We made the path but they are suddenly on top of us? They even cooperate with an operator in Singapore," he said.
Instead, Dian commended iflix who deemed to understand on how to do business in Indonesia. "In my opinion, Netflix's loss is a blessing for iflix. They can access approximately 1.5 million IndiHome subscribers and will blow up to 3 million subscribers at the end of 2016," he concluded.(es)
