SINGAPORE (IndoTelko) – Telin Singapore, a wholly owned subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom), officially opened its third data center branded as Telin-3, located at the Singapore Data Centre Park (DCP) in Jurong.

Rini M. Soemarno, Minister of State Owned Enterprises of Indonesia and Dr Janil Puthucheary, Minister of State for Communications and Information of Singapore, jointly officiated the grand opening of Telin-3 data center on Tuesday (22/11).

Telin-3 is designed as a future-ready premium data center and is also Singapore’s first and only data center to receive Uptime Institute’s (UTI) Tier-IV design certification, enabling it to meet the stringent risks, safety and data security industry guidelines required by various industry verticals.

Beside Tier-IV design certification, Telin-3 has recently achieved Tier-III Constructed Facility certification from UTI, the global recognised data center institution. This certification will ensure Telin-3 to meet the highest standard of mission critical data center service and reliability, which are key customer requirements. Telin-3 is a five-storey 20,000-square-metre purpose-built data center, adopting multi-tier design. This design feature provides flexibility and modularity to customers, enabling them to select from a variety of tier ratings based on their business requirements.

Telin-3 is amongst TelkomGroup’s world class standard data centers, many of which operate in Indonesia. Telkom currently has 100.000 m2 data centers in Indonesia, consisting of tier III data center located in Serpong (BSD) Tangerang, Sentul–West Java and Surabaya–East Java; tier IV data center in Jatinegara, Jakarta; and star data centers in many locations in Jakarta.

“Telin-3 is not just another data center, it is a dream for many of us at TelkomGroup - a data center that is future ready, agile, reliable and progressive. Telin-3 is also a carrier neutral data center where TelkomGroup submarine cable systems are seamlessly connected via our Telin Singapore’s domestic fibre network. This well connected network infrastructure will position Telin-3 as a Telecommunication Hub as well as the Gateway to Indonesia and to the rest of the world”, said Ms Septika N Widyasrini, Telin Singapore CEO.

Speaking at the grand opening ceremony, Mr Alex J. Sinaga, Group CEO of TelkomGroup commented: “This is a significant milestone for TelkomGroup as the completion of Telin-3 is a solid step forward in the journey of TelkomGroup’s vision to be the king of digital in the region. We believe this investment will boost our capability to provide services to customers across their digital business environment in Singapore, regionally and globally.

“Telin Singapore is the first overseas footprint established by TelkomGroup to venture into international business. In line with TelkomGroup’s international business expansion strategy, Telin-3 is one of our major overseas investments and its completion will strengthen and enhance TelkomGroup’s Digital Business Portfolio”.

“Singapore’s Data Centre Park was created for the purpose of supporting the growing data center ecosystem and empower possibilities for our Smart Nation. IMDA is encouraged that Telin Singapore is a part of this and will benefit from the strong backbone infrastructure we have in place,” said Assistant Chief Executive Khoong Hock Yun, Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore.

In addition, Telin-3 as a carrier neutral data center is the first software-defined data center in Asia Pacific that is built with VMWare Validated Design. This design will enable Telin Singapore to deliver holistic data center solutions that span across compute, storage, networking and service management. Thus, Telin-3 is able to offer a complete ecosystem of both private and public cloud system and platform to meet the growing demand for digital business environment in Singapore, and in regional and global markets.(es)
