JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - Telecommunication operators incorporated in Smart Rupiah Project (Rupi) wanted to participate in the distribution of the government's non-cash assistance to the people who receive the Prosperous Family Saving cards (KSKS).
The three operators who are members of the Rupi project are Telkom (including Telkomsel), XL Axiata and Indosat where the three of them have the Hape (cell phone) Account products in cooperation with Bank Mandiri.
"We want to contribute in the distribution of non-cash assistance. The three of us already participated last time, but only for SIM card provision only as the e-money platform is owned by Bank Mandiri, namely the e-cash," said Chief Digital Service XL Yessie D. Yosetya to IndoTelko.
Yessie said that the current bidding to support the non-cash assistance is on-going. "All three of us tried, especially Bank Mandiri as they have the Hape account," Yessie said.
Indosat Group Head of Mobile Financial Service Randy Pangalila said that it is not right to put together operators with banks in encouraging the non-cash transactions.
"There shouldn't be any more things to do to make banks and operator goes head to head. Everything must work together to support less cash society," Randy said.
Previously, the bank has been testing the distribution of the Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance through electronic money by utilizing digital financial service agents as the paying agency in South Tugu village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta.
In the early stages, the government prepared one million mobile phone cards where Telkomsel plans to provide 550 thousand cards, and approximately 450 thousand cards will be provided by Indosat and XL Axiata to residents on the Java Island.
The SIM cards will be active for five years to distribute non-cash assistance. The assistance will be submitted into the E-cash independent account.
Once the non-cash assistance has been submitted, residents can exchange it into cash at the nearest Indonesian Postal office or appointed onsite agents. (es)
