JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - The Ministry of Industry is now designing the preparation of a roadmap for the national gaming industry to be more competitive.

"The initiative came from the Ministry of Industry and the Association of Indonesian game. It will be disseminated across ministries," said the Director of the Electronics Industry Ministry of Industry, Ignatius Warsito, yesterday.

He said that the roadmap will include issues on regulatory, standardization, technology, marketing and industrial facilities harmonization. The budget prepared for the gaming industry will come from the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, National Creative Agency and the Ministry of Research and Technology.

According to the plan, the government will impose the Indonesian national labor competency standards (SKKNI) for the gaming industry, so that developers will have the certificate of ability to be recognized widely.

"We want the gaming industry players to be professional and recognized globally," he said.

Regulatory Act is needed
Separately Vice-Chairman of the Committee III DPD RI Fahira Idris suggested that the Creative Economy Act is to provide legal protection.

According to RPJMN (National Medium Term Development Plant) 2015-2019, the government expects the GDP growth of the creative economy rose from 7.1% (2014) to 12% in 2019.

The government is also optimistic that in 2019 creative economy sectors is able to absorb 13 million workers (2014: 12 million) with a gross contribution of exports or foreign exchange 10% (2014: 5.8%).

"It’s all must be equipped with regulatory act to protect creative workers starting from the creation, production, distribution, consumption to conservation phase," she said.

According to Fahira, these creative workers needs government’s support to expand the market by providing infrastructures such as building creative centers or creative spaces, providing access to sources of capital and access to markets.

"I urge the Creative Economy Bill (Ekraf) to be submitted in the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas 2016) to be discussed and passed into law," she said. (es)
