JAKARTA (IndoTelko) - Indonesia Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) to carry out an in-depth study about the development and potential of nationwide eCommerce businesses to strengthen the basis for policy making related to the sector.
"We will conduct proliferation to know the real situation on the ground. From there we want to know what and how exactly what is desired by the eCommerce players," said Aptika Unit Chief of Technology and e-Business Infrastructure Directorate Noor Iza in Jakarta, Wednesday (26/8).
Noor Iza said that a few years ago the Ministry has done a similar survey and the data needs to be updated. "Now the eCommerce business pattern has varied, there is the marketplace and others. Not to mention internet users that is also increased by a variety of means of access. If we can get solid research, policy making for this sector will build a healthy ecosystem," he said.
He added that to strengthen the research result, the Ministry also formed an e-Business Proliferation Assistance Team in which the Steering Team consists of Minister of Communication and Informatics Technology Rudiantara and Aptika Director General Bambang Heru Tjahjono, while the person in charge is the Aptika Director of e-Business DG Azhar Hashim.
"Members of the team consist of multi stakeholders including businesses, internet service providers, practitioners and Bank of Indonesia that are expected to provide input on the development of eCommerce business in Indonesia. The study will be conducted in about four months, we expect the results would be done on schedule and fruitfull," said Noor Iza who is also the Chairman of the Proliferation Assistance Team.
On the same occasion, one of the e-Business Proliferation Assistance Team Member Doni Ismanto Darwin welcomed the positive steps from the Ministry to conduct research related to eCommerce business in Indonesia.
"This move is right, let alone the government is making a national road map and government's bill on (RPP) eCommerce. If we can all be synergized the result would be maximum," said the man who is also the Founder of IndoTelko Forum.
For your information, the government wants to increase eCommerce transaction in 2016 in order to reach US $ 20 billion. Currently in Indonesia eCommerce transactions is still relatively low. In 2014 the value of new e-commerce transactions only reached US $ 12 billion, equivalent to Rp150 trillion. It is predicted that in 2015 e-commerce transaction Indonesia can grow to more than US $ 20 billion. (es)
